Meet Victoria and Thomas. Both are college professors. Both have families, active social lives and calendars full of civic obligations. Both of them are incredibly busy at work. However, one is thriving, and one is drowning.
Victoria is thriving. She is organized, loves teaching and earns near-perfect student evaluations. Her students are learning, and it shows. She publishes several articles each year, is writing a book and is on track to earn tenure. She serves on several university committees, meets all deadlines and never drops balls.
Thomas, on the other hand, is drowning. He loses students’ assignments. His students complain about his lack of organization and focus. He complains about having too much administrative work to do. He misses deadlines, which results in constant complaints from administrators. He is a good instructor but could easily be an excellent instructor. Read the rest of this article »
